HUNTRON SCANNERS

24/4/2009

Add Scanning Capabilites to Your Huntron Tracker Model 30 System

Adding a Huntron® Scanner to your Tracker Model 30 system lets you access components using standard DIP clips and cables, custom cables to PCB connectors or interface to a bed-of-nails.
You can compare one component with another in real-time (64 pins max.) or use your PC to automate testing and scan up to 128 pins.
Huntron Scanners can be used with a Huntron Access Prober to provide Common line connections while the Prober is probing a PCB. This method gives you up to 128 selectable Commons to use. For example, you can connect the Scanner to a connector on a PCB mounted in the Prober using a common ribbon style cable. While the Prober is probing, any one of the lines on the connected ribbon cable can be selected as the Common reference. This would provide you true point-to-point testing capabilities.
Note: The ProTrack Scanner will be replaced by the Scanner II and/or the Scanner 31S effective 1/1/2008. This applies to commercial sales only.

Scanner II and Scaner 31S users may want to consider these Optional Accessories to enhance their test capabilities.

Highlights:

·         The Scanner II and Scanner 31S accessories add scanning capability to the Tracker Model 30

·         All Scanners have a minimum 64 pin capability

·         The Scanner II can scan up to 128 pins when the A and B channels are combined

·         The Scanner 31S use standard IDC style connectors

·         The Scanner II uses the common SCSI-2 (68 pin) style connectors

·         Up to 8 Scanner IIs can be “daisy-chained” to increase the available number of test pins

Selecting Accessories for your Scanner II
The Scanner II accessories for interfacing to your printed circuit board come "ala carte". This means that you select the accessories you want included with your Scanner. Choose from SMT or through-hole style DIP clip and cable kits (Scanner Adapter required with Scanner II) or a mutli-pin breakout cable. Details on these accessories are provided on this page.

VSEP

17/4/2009
EMERYVILLE, Calif. and IPSWICH, Australia, Sept. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- New Logic Research, Inc., the maker of VSEP, the vibrating membrane filtration system, announced today its participation in the official commissioning ceremony for the Australian Hardboards Water Recycling Plant in Queensland, Australia.

On hand for the ceremony were members of the Australian Hardboards and New Logic executive team, as well as numerous business leaders and local officials, including Cr. Paul Pisasale, the mayor of Ipswich.

The wastewater treatment and recovery system, which combines seven i84 VSEP nanofiltration membrane modules, recovers wastewater for reuse within the plant. The system, which is capable of processing approximately 200,000 gallons per day, runs continuously automated by a programmable logic controller (PLC).

According to New Logic CEO Greg Johnson, "VSEP is fast becoming accepted as the best available technology for tough wastewater treatment applications in Australia. The Australian Hardboards installation represents our second Australian installation in as many months; still more will be coming online within the next year. We were honored to be a part of the ceremony, and to show our commitment to helping to solve the Australian water shortage problem."

New Logic International Sales Manager Melysa Reiss adds, "The paradox of Australia's decreasing water resources and increasing industrial demand requires innovative technologies to bridge the gap. We are proud to have the opportunity to do just that for Australian Hardboards and other firms throughout the continent."

Water shortage caused by drought and increased populations has created a crisis in many parts of Australia. Water supply levels have fallen to 30% of normal, and continue to drop. Local water districts have implemented severe water restrictions to try to stop the drop in supply levels. Brisbane is currently at a Level 4 water restriction that requires mandatory conservation. By recycling its wastewater and reducing its fresh water intake using the VSEP system, AHL has conserved the equivalent of 2000 homes worth of water supply per year. This example of water conservation is being used as a showpiece for other industries to follow.

  • Client Onboarding and KYC Compliance

    17/4/2009
NEW YORK – November 16, 2006 - WestLB AG, one of Germany’s leading financial services providers today announced that they have selected GoldTier, a provider of proven ‘Know Your Customer’ (KYC) Compliance Solutions, to provide their strategic KYC client onboarding system.

Increasing regulatory pressures continue to drive financial institutions to centralize business processes with respect to the onboarding of new clients and the associated KYC, documentation, and client data management. Historically, financial institutions approached these challenges on a reactive basis, addressing weaknesses in their process only once audit problems arose.

GoldTier specializes in providing a proactive remedy to these pressures. WestLB’s goal is to enhance existing client services and streamline new account opening by centralizing key onboarding and compliance operations, and embedding controls within these operations. GoldTier’s rich out-of-the box functionality, which is required to rapidly implement WestLB’s vision, will empower WestLB to improve service levels and streamline operations while ensuring regulatory compliance across their client base. It will be deployed across front, middle and back office personnel, offering a transparent view to their client base and account request status across these teams.

“GoldTier will be used across multiple legal entities of WestLB’s institutional business for managing the onboarding of new clients, from the inception of requests in the front office through the KYC due diligence and account setup in the back office,” explained Pino Vallejo, Head of New York Operations. “It will accommodate the distinct policies of WestLB’s businesses while sharing client data and documentation across the platform.”

“We are excited that WestLB has recognized the value of the out of the box functionality, business rule and process templates that GoldTier offers,” said Matthew Tebaldi, Chief Operating Officer, GoldTier. “One of the key challenges financial institutions face is the translation of regulatory guidelines into policy. We continue to work with industry leaders such as HSBC and WestLB to embed best practice policies into the GoldTier product offering. These templates and best practices not only add value to all GoldTier clients, but also form the basis of what will become industry-accepted standards for how to effectively manage KYC and client onboarding.”

    DDR-150 Rotary Positioning Stage

      • Wafer Inspection
      • Precision Assembly
      • Laser Machining

Low Profile Direct Drive Rotary Stage

Anorad's new DDR-150 rotary positioning stages are designed for precise position and velocity control in light to medium force applications. High performance is achieved through use of a brushless DC servomotor, high resolution optical encoder and precision bearing set all housed in a compact and precisely machined aluminum base with a rugged stainless steel top plate.

The direct drive servo control of the brushless DC motor has several advantages over conventional gear driven rotary stages. Backlash is eliminated, torque variation is minimized, plus gear and brush wear are no longer factors in long term usage. Added benefits include speeds up to 360 rpm, 0.2 arc second resolution and ±1 arc second repeatability. Step-and-settle time is also reduced due to increased servo bandwidth.

Available options for the DDR-150 include a variety of encoder resolutions to meet your speed and accuracy requirements. An axial through hole for use with pneumatic or optical devices; adjustable home, limit and hardstop positions; and a sheet metal cover to protect the encoder and internal components.

Golf Schools by Golf Made Simple

    17/4/2009

    The Golfer Improvement Program

"Of Golfers that shot 90 to 100 before attending Golf Made Simple
92% improved 6 to 11 strokes during their 3-day program."

There are over 133 Golf Schools and 26,000 PGA Professionals in America. And we're recognized as the 3rd Best out of all of them. Why? Because 92% of golfers have improved 6 to 11 strokes with Golf Made Simple!

What will Golf Made Simple do for you?

GMS will help you learn what your golf swing feels like so that you become more consistent. Golfers that understand their golf swing and know what their golf swing should feel like are the Golfers that improve. Though, unfortunately, most of the time a Golfer seeks Golf Instruction, they run into an Instructor that complicates matters by trying to completely change your golf swing. This is what happens at those regular everyday "Run-of-the-Mill Golf Schools" or at your typical Golf Lesson where the first thing they do is desperately try to change your grip. Those Golf Schools are for people who think the only way to stop slicing the golf ball is to make things more difficult by changing your entire golf swing (which can't be farther from the truth).

Golf Made Simple differs from the typical Golf School approach

Golf Made Simple just simplifies the golf swing you already have and makes it better, repeatable and more consistent! And because of this simple approach, you'll become more confident in your abilities on the golf course!

Slices, Wormburners, Fat Shots, Blow-up Holes - Where Does It All End?

Golf Made Simple has found that most Golfers don't need a complete swing change to improve their golf swing. GMS will help you to understand the Strengths and Weaknesses of your golf swing. We then work on improving the Weaknesses because these Weaknesses are what are causing you to become inconsistent and hit bad golf shots.

Then each afternoon, you'll go on the golf course for 9-holes of On-course Coaching with your GMS Instructor to help you to make a PLAN to play to your Strengths and away from your Weaknesses. At the same time your GMS Instructor will be helping you overcome any bad swings by helping you to fix the problem before your next shot.

That's just one way we help you overcome Slices, Wormburners, Fat Shots and Blow-up Holes. Are there more ways? Of course there are - that's why "92 of Golfers have improved 6 to 11 strokes during their 3 day program."

With excellent locations at facilities (some of which host or have hosted PGA Tour events), to only 4 Golfers per Instructor, to our groundbreaking Instructor For Life Program (which includes the GMS Player Page) - you might be starting see some of the many reasons why GMS has helped so many Golfers become more consistent and enjoy Golf again!

    SKİ NORWAY

    17/4/2009

Welcome to the expedition website for Ski Norway 08.

My name is Dave Leaning. Beginning at midnight on new years eve 2007 I am attempting to ski the length of Norway, from Lindesness in the south to North Cape - the northern most point in Europe - over 2600 km and finishing 500 km inside the arctic circle.

I will be doing this to raise money for the Mines Advisory Group (MAG).

MAG is a registered charity which works in conflict zones around the world to clear landmines and dangerous unexploded ordinance, to enable people to escape from the poverty and suffering caused by conflict, and educate indigenous communities to lessen the threat of death and injury.

MAG is also co-laureate of the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize, awarded for their work with the International Campaign to Ban Landmines.

Ski Norway 08 - The Journey

I have never attempted anything this big before, from Lindesness to Nordkapp is a distance of over 2600km. The route will take me over some of the most unspoilt wilderness in the world, across three countries, and over 500km into the arctic circle.

Weather conditions can vary from torrential rain to 'whiteout' blizzards, with temperatures going to - 30° C and below.

Scattered throughout the mountains of Norway are a network of isolated cabins maintained by the Norwegian trekking association. I will try to make as much use of these as possible, although in order to be able to take the most direct route I will be carrying a tent and several days worth of rations.

At the beginning of the year the weather in the north of Norway is at its most fierce, and owing to the arctic night, the sun will not rise until mid February. In the south the conditions should be comparatively mild.

By starting in the south and heading north I am aiming to miss the worst of the weather, and the long nights. If timed correctly I should arrive in nordkapp after the average temperature has risen above - 30° C (below this temp the likelihood of frostbite becomes disproportionately high).

However by late April the temperatures in the north will have risen and melted the snows. This leaves me with a limited window during which I can expect good snow conditions and rapid progress.

In effect the expedition will be a race against time to reach nordkapp before the onset of spring

    KYC COMPLİANCE

    17/4/2009
Know Your Customer (KYC) compliance regulation has proved to be one of the biggest operational challenges banks, accountants, lawyers and similar financial service providers worldwide have had to overcome.

World-Check, the industry standard KYC compliance solution, provides an overview of KYC compliance and its origins, and outlines the compliance mandate as applicable to banks, accounting firms, lawyers and other regulated financial service providers – not just in the UK, Europe and the USA, but all around the world. Relied upon by more than 3,000 institutions worldwide, this KYC database solution provides effective legal and reputational risk reduction.

    Why “Know Your Customer?”

The 9/11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Centre revealed that there were sinister forces at work around the world, and that terrorists activities were being funded with laundered money, the proceeds of illicit activities such as narcotics and human trafficking, fraud and organised crime. Overnight, the combating of terrorist financing became a priority on the international agenda.

For the financial services provider of the 21st century, “knowing your customers” was no longer a suggested course of action. Based on the requirements of legislative landmarks such as the USA PATRIOT Act 2002, modern Know Your Customer (KYC) compliance mandates were created to simultaneously combat money laundering and the funding of terrorist activities.

What is Know Your Customer (KYC)?

Know Your Customer, or KYC, refers to the regulatory compliance mandate imposed on financial service providers to implement a Customer Identification Programme and perform due diligence checks before doing business with a person or entity.

KYC fulfils a risk mitigation function, and one its key requirements is checking that a prospective customer is not listed on any government lists for wanted money launders, known fraudsters or terrorists.

If preliminary KYC checks reveal that the person is a Politically Exposed Person (PEP), for example, Advanced Due Diligence must be done in order to ensure that the person’s source of wealth is transparent, and that he or she does not pose a reputational or financial risk in terms of their finances, public positions or associations. Beyond customer identification checks, the ongoing monitoring of transfers and financial transactions against a range of risk variables forms an integral part of the KYC compliance mandate.

But to understand the importance of KYC compliance for financial service providers better, its origins need to be examined.

Origins of Know Your Customer (KYC) compliance

The arrival of the new millennium was marred by a spate of terrorist attacks and corporate scandals that unmasked the darker features of globalisation. These events highlighted the role of money laundering in cross-border crime and terrorism, and underlined the need to clamp down on the exploitation of financial systems worldwide.

Know Your Customer (KYC) legislation was principally not absent prior to 9/11. Regulated financial service providers for a long time have been required to conduct due diligence and customer identification checks in order to mitigate their own operation risks, and to ensure a consistent and acceptable level of service.

In essence, the USA PATRIOT Act was not so much a radical departure from prior legislation as it was a firmer and more extensive articulation of existing laws. The Act would lead to the more rigorous regulation of a greater range of financial services providers, and expanded the authority of American law enforcement agencies in the fighting of terrorism, both in the USA and abroad.

In October 2001, President George W. Bush signed off the USA PATRIOT Act, effectively providing federal regulators with a new range of tools and powers for fighting terror financing and money laundering. During July 2002, the US Treasury proceeded to introduce Section 326 of the PATRIOT Act, a clause that removed some key burdens for regulators and added significant enforcement muscle to the Act.

What 9/11 changed, in essence, was the extent to which existing legislation was being implemented. Using the provisions of the earlier anti-terrorism USA Act as a foundation, it included the Financial Anti-Terrorism Act, which allowed for federal jurisdiction over foreign money launders and money laundered through foreign banks. Significantly, it is this anti-terror law that would make the creation of an Anti Money Laundering (AML) programme compulsory for all financial institutions and service providers.

Section 326 of the USA PATRIOT Act dealt specifically with the identification of new customers (“CIP regulation”), and made extensive provisions in terms of KYC and the methods employed to verify client identities.

In accordance with this piece of updated KYC legislation, federal regulators would hold financial institutions accountable for the effectiveness of their initial customer identification and ongoing KYC screening. Institutions are required to keep detailed records of the steps that were taken to verify prospective clients’ identities.

Although current KYC legislation does not yet demand the exclusion of specific types of foreign-issued identification, it recommends the usage of machine-verifiable identity documents. The ability to notify financial institutions if concerns regarding specific types of identification were to arise, combined with a risk-based approach to KYC, proved to provide a robust mechanism for addressing security concerns.

Effectively, the risk-based approach to customer due diligence grants regulated institutions a certain degree of flexibility to determine the forms of identification they will accept, and under which conditions.

We arrived in Warsaw at 6pm, the station was bright, busy, and full of small kiosks more like Stafford market than an international train station. After walking around it for 20 mins and realising that ’yes/no/please/thanks’ and ’beer’ were not going to help us get to our accommodation we were rescued by a little Irishman. He showed us where the taxis were and told us what to say to our driver who sped us to our accommodation, The Castle Hostel, situated in the heart of the old medieval town.

We were here for one night only so after exploring the old town, a beautiful network of cobbled streets and alleys that felt like a very different city to the one we’d arrived in, we looked for a place to eat. Cabbage soup and meat stew seemed to be the only things on Polish menus but as they say ‘when in Rome’…so we found an Italian restaurant.

    Saturday

Louise ordered breakfast in bed, which was a nice start to the day, but it got even better when we sat down for lunch. We’d explored Warsaw further in the morning, walking around the old town walls in the clear blue winter sky, and sat down to eat some goulash in a local tavern only to turn around and see the Arsenal/Man U match kicking off on a big screen. Perfect timing. It got even better when United lost 2-1, result! (sorry Louise & Anthony).

Our Moscow train was leaving late afternoon so we headed to our station, a small Stalinesque building, just as the sun was setting. This was to be our first experience on a sleeper train - a little taste of the bigger journey to come. We boarded the train and was greeted by the Provodnista (a female Russian carriage attendant) who waved several Russian forms at us. As our Russian was even worse than our Polish and she didn’t speak any English she dragged a big but friendly looking Russian man to us who, in his uniform, looked like a ship’s captain who’d lost his way. He shooed me to one side, sat down in our cabin and began translating…very slowly.

We fell asleep around midnight despite every door, panel and screw rattling louder and louder as the train picked up speed travelling out of Poland and through Belarus during the night.

    Sunday

We awoke in Russia in the early morning as back-to-front Russian words sped past us on buildings and advertising hoardings. Arriving in Moscow at 1pm, we said dasvidanya to the Provodnista and Captain, and with our heads still dizzy from the journey set off to find our hotel in the Russian capital, home of 12 million people. Heading straight for the underground, and already sweating from the weight of our rucksacks and arctic clothing, the job of navigating our way just added to the strain.

Moscow’s underground, or Metro, was however amazing. Built after the October uprising of 1917 when the Communists came to power, they looked more like the corridors and chambers of decaying palaces than a transport system built 50ft underground. The Russians riding the Metro looked less regal. Dressed mostly in black and with sullen, pale faces they looked like they hadn’t been above ground for years.

Hot and sticky and an hour and a half later we walked in to our hotel room. From the smell it clearly wasn’t the non-smoking room we’d requested, but given it was 11 floors up and it had taken 30 mins to check-in we decided to stay put.

Another Metro journey later and we arrived at the hugely impressive Red Square, named after the original red cobbles that were laid down when the old city market was cleared. On the east side of the square is the beautiful glass roofed GUM shopping arcade (a bit like Manchester’s Trafford Centre but built 100 years before!); on the north side the red bricked State History Museum; to the south sits St Basil’s Cathedral, an amazing fairytale like creation built in 1561; and finally along the western edge the Kremlin, a large walled citadel and the seat of Russian power. With dusk turning to night and a full moon shining brightly down the place felt magical. With it’s beauty, it’s history and of course Louise next me I felt inspired.

    Monday

I awoke in a nostalgic mood and soon realised it was the stale tobacco smell reminding me of the times I’d get up with a hangover from a night at the Colosseum to find my clothes stinking of smoke. Ahhh.

With a full breakfast inside us we headed into Moscow where we:

    - Visited the Kremlin; the Armoury inside had original Faberge eggs on display (Louise seemed a little disappointed, I think she’d have preferred them to be by Kinder). Although no longer officially President Putin still goes to work here each day as whole roads are cleared for his daily commute. We said hello to him and he gave his regards to my Dad, although strangely enough when I spoke to Dad later he claimed never to have met him.

    - Went inside St Basil’s Cathedral; from the outside it looks like it’s been created from the imagination of sweet shop owner with it’s candy bar towers, twisting spires and ice cream shaped domes. On the inside it’s much more intimate although just as colourful.

    - Went shopping along Ul Arbat; one of the main shopping and tourist streets where we relaxed, had some coffee, visited a Russian doll shop for Louise’s Mum (see Pic) and walked, lots!

    - Saw Stalin’s Seven Sisters; no this isn’t a euphemism for something, but 7 huge skyscrapers each looking a little like the Empire State Building. After defeating the Nazi’s in 1945 it’s claimed Stalin thought tourists would flock to Moscow but was worried they wouldn’t be impressed unless they saw some tall buildings - how wise he was!

    - Bored and annoyed Louise; well that was just me really. I decided to learn the Cyrillic alphabet and some Russian words. This did prove usual to decode the Russian around us but apparently it became slightly tiresome when I tried to decipher every word I saw. I’m not quick at translating and there were lots of words about.

    - Ate in a typical Russian restaurant; well it was Persian but apparently the Russians don’t really have much of a cuisine besides Slavic and Georgian (who I don’t think they’re friends with now).

    Tuesday

….walked around more, checked out our departing station for later in the day and in general found Moscow to be far from what I was expecting. Further out the city has the concrete tenements that you’d associate with the old Soviet block but the main city areas are grand and beautiful. This is the world’s most expensive city and I guess that doesn’t happen without a reason.

We’re now full circle and about to leave our hotel for the longest train journey of our lives, but before I go I wanted to finish with a few extra notes on Moscow:

    The people

To say they are cold and grumpy may be a little unfair; it’s difficult to understand a nation’s psyche when you don’t speak their language. Saying that the only time I saw a Russian smile or laugh was when I tried speaking Russian to them.

    The cars

Black seems to be the favourite colour of the discerning Moscovite motorist, and I haven’t seen this many blacked out windows and 4x4s since I was last in Waitrose car park in Sunningdale.

    Top 10 cities

I’m putting Moscow in my top 10 cities but it wouldn’t be a great place for a stag do (or for ‘any excuse Matty‘) due to price and distance. Louise claims that the Russians are the ugliest people she’s seen. Although I couldn’t agree with her on the women I think she’s right about the blokes so if you’re down on your luck this is the place to come.

Finally sorry Louise, this is even longer than your first blog and probably less readable!

    Louise writes …

Wowzers! Is anyone actually still reading this? Or perhaps you’ve just skipped to where it says Louise writes hoping it will be less painful, he he … James can never say I’m longwinded again!

    Here are my thoughts:

    • Warsaw’s old town is beautiful and we didn’t really have enough chance to get under the skin of the city properly but very much enjoyed our stay.
    • The sleeper train from Warsaw to Moscow was something of an experience as James described. Probably best summed up by the fact that we were using a table cloth covered toilet as a coffee table (see pic)!
    • Moscow’s a great city - my mood swung between disorientated on day 1, loving the city on day 2, and shattered and longing for western comforts/a smiling face on day 3. Overall it was so much more beautiful than I expected and I hope you can see from some of the pics how amazing it is, especially around Red Square at night which is just so special.
    • The metro is fantastic … James kept referring to it as a ‘subterranean horse’ though, something he just made up … this is the kind of nonsense I’ve got to put up with 24 hours a day. At times it felt very Kafkaesque (now, that’s a big word for a blog and the sort of nonsense James has to put up with!)
    • The Russian people really are the ugliest I’ve ever seen (sallow skin, sunken eyes, all sorts of shapes and sizes of faces, noses and ears!) I’m not being funny - it’s like when you go on holiday to Spanish or Italian resorts and the locals are petite, toned and tanned leaving you feeling big, ugly and white. Well, if ever your ego needs a boost head to Russia - you’ll feel like a million dollars even on a bad hair day. If you need to find a man on the other hand, I’d give it a miss!
    • James has not shaved since we set off and now has what is almost a beard - he’s either trying to keep warm or to fit in with the locals.
    • We picked up our tickets for the Trans-Mongolian Express from a company based in a weird little hotel room on the other side of Moscow to us. It took me back to role-play exercises at assessment centres in random hotel rooms - anyway, the tickets were legit and we were on our way … more about that in the next instalment though.

PS - Favourite moment in Moscow - apple and cinnamon pancakes in a coffee shop … mmmm!

We arrived in Warsaw at 6pm, the station was bright, busy, and full of small kiosks more like Stafford market than an international train station. Wall Street legend Bernard L. Madoff recently admitted to running a decades-long, multi-billion-dollar Ponzi scheme, which has caused billions of dollars in investor losses. While it has been reported that virtually all monies invested with Madoff have been lost, Dimond Kaplan & Rothstein has learned of a number of solvent third parties that may be held accountable for certain losses suffered with Madoff. For example, upon information and belief, a number of accounting firms, "feeder" hedge funds, and even banks such as Japan-based Nomura, Geneva-based Banque Benedict Hentch, and Zurich-based private bank Neue Privat Bank are believed to have steered clients' money to Madoff. Moreover, while hedge fund investment advisor Aksia LLC warned investors not to put their money with Bernard Madoff after it recognized glaring "red flags" concerning Madoff's hedge fund, Nomura, Banque Benedict Hentch, Neue, and other third parties plainly failed to conduct proper due diligence, failed to recognize -- or ignored -- the seemingly obvious "red flags" that Aksia LLC noticed about Madoff. As such, those third parties and others may be held responsible for certain Madoff investor losses. Dimond Kaplan & Rothstein, P.A. is a nationally recognized law firm with extensive experience representing investors throughout the country in investment fraud cases and specifically including victims of Ponzi schemes. Citigroup/Smith Barney Falcon, ASTA, and MAT Hedge Fund Losses

Investors in Citigroup's Falcon Strategies Fund, ASTA Fund, and MAT Fund may be entitled to recover their investment losses. Citigroup marketed these hedge funds as low-risk, safe, fixed-income investments. In reality, the Citigroup ASTA, MAT, and Falcon funds engaged in high-risk, leveraged investment strategies that subjected investors to significant risk of loss. Some or all of these funds also invested in risky collateralized debt obligations (CDOs) and risky mortgage-backed securities. These hedge funds ultimately dropped significantly in value, causing investors to lose millions of dollars. MAT and ASTA hedge fund investors have until December 5, 2008 to opt out of a recent class action settlement in Raymond v. Mat Five, LLC et al., which is pending in the Court of Chancery in Delaware. Citigroup or Smith Barney customers who fail to opt out of the class action will be forced to accept this settlement. If you lost money in Citigroup's Falcon, ASTA, or MAT funds please contact a lawyer at the law firm of Dimond Kaplan & Rothstein, P.A. for a free case evaluation.

Lehman Brothers Principal Protected Notes and other Structured Products

Investors in Lehman Brothers structured products, namely so-called “principal protected notes,” may be entitled to recover their investment losses. Lehman Brothers and other brokerage firms marketed and sold Lehman’s principal protected notes as a product that would provide investors with “100 percent principal protection” and “uncapped appreciation potential.” But the principal protected notes actually subjected investors to far more risk than they were led to believe. Specifically, after Lehman Brothers filed for bankruptcy protection in September 2008, holders of the Lehman principal protected notes will have to wait in line with other unsecured creditors to recover what is left of their money. Many brokerage firms, including Merrill Lynch, UBS, JP Morgan, Fidelity, and Wachovia, marketed and sold the Lehman Brothers principal protected notes to their own clients. Lehman's structured products included Suns (Stock Upside Note Securities) and Prudents (Prudential Research Universe Diversified Equity Notes). Other brokerage firms also sold their own structured products and principal protected notes, such as Mitts (Merrill's Market Index Target- Term Securities), Sequins (Citigroup's Select Equity Indexed Notes), and Propels (Morgan Stanley's Protected Performance Equity Linked Securities). In total, nearly $70 billion in structured notes were sold to investors last year alone. Charles Schwab YieldPlus Fund Losses

Investors in Charles Schwab's ultra-short bond funds the Schwab YieldPlus Fund Investor Shares (Symbol: SWYPX) and the Schwab YieldPlus Fund - Select Shares (Symbol: SWYSX) may be entitled to recover their investment losses. Charles Schwab marketed its YieldPlus funds as safe investments that would provide "higher potential returns than money market funds, with only marginally higher risk." Charles Schwab also represented that its YieldPlus funds were designed to provide "high current income with minimal changes in share price," and that this objective would be accomplished by investing in a "well-diversified" portfolio of bonds with durations of one year or less. But the YieldPlus mutual funds have decreased in value by 25% during the first quarter of 2008. That performance is far worse than the performance of money market funds and other ultra-short bond mutual funds during the same period. DKR believes that those dramatic losses were directly caused by Charles Schwab's mismanagement of the funds. Specifically, the funds apparently were over-concentrated in risky mortgage-backed securities that contained subprime mortgage loans. The Funds also invested heavily in collateralized debt obligations, which are risky structured financial instruments. Many of those investments have no active secondary market, making the securities illiquid with difficult-to-determine values. If you lost money in a Schwab YieldPlus fund please contact a lawyer at the law firm of Dimond Kaplan & Rothstein, P.A. for a free case evaluation.

    MLTrac

    16/4/2009
With the ever-increasing emphasis on being able to demonstrate adequate anti money laundering procedures and prevention techniques, plus the draconian penalties for those failing to maintain suitable evidence of such activity, no financial institution can afford to be without an automated system such as MLTrac.

MLTrac is part of our portfolio of banking software and is dedicated to identifying, tracking and regulating potentially suspicious or illegal activities in respect of money laundering and/or the proceeds of crime.

internet banking software, wholesale banking software, retail banking software systems, bankware, branchware, tellerware, INTERNET BANKING SOFTWARE, WHOLESALE BANKING SOFTWARE, RETAIL BANKING SOFTWARE SYSTEMS, BANKWARE, BRANCHWARE, TELLERWARE, Internet Banking Software, Wholesale Banking Software, Retail Banking Software Systems, Bankware, Branchware, Tellerware, Criterion Banking Software, private banking,fx,money market, foreign exchange,S.W.I.F.T.,SWIFT,dealing,trade finance, lending, disaster recovery,payments,remittances,accounting,cashiers,treasury,offshore,reuters,online,on-line, Anti Money Laundering software

MLTrac enables financial institutions to improve their internal disciplines, supplement their policies and procedures, and make a clear statement to the authorities about their commitment to effective anti money laundering controls.

MLTrac's functionality is based upon a combination of our experience, together with contributions from our customer base and the relevant international financial authorities. Regular updates also take account of any future changes in market requirements and legislation.

    Functions:

    *
KYC Document Management - The definition, scanning, management and tracking of customer documentation, and reporting of any deviations.
    *
KYC Account Monitoring -The tracking of movements over account(s) looking for deviations outside of a pre-determined profile.
    *
Manual Watch List Checking. Enter a name and the system will check to see if the name, or like sounding names, appear on any of the watch lists (e.g. OFAC, Bank of England and others) that the system monitors
    * Message Monitoring. MLTrac can be configured to check all inbound and outbound messages, irrespective of format, to see whether any field (normally the Ordering Customer and Beneficiary) appears on one of the supported checklists. The bank has control over the granularity of the name checking so as not to create too many false alerts. Messages that fail Watch List Checking are put to a quarantine queue for manual intervention. Full Audit Trails of all checks and actions taken is maintained by the system.
    *
Cash Remittances. For the many institutions that originate from a country with a large overseas population the problems associated with accepting cash for remittance back home when taken against the potential ramifications of anti money laundering legislation means that the business is very risky and, often, not worth doing. The Cash Remittances module does away with this fear. Information concerning the remitter is maintained as part of the KYC Documentation Management module and is displayed and made available to the teller at the point of capturing data. A full record off all remitters and beneficiaries is maintained. Limits can be placed upon the individual remitter and upon the ultimate beneficiary (irrespective of source). The resulting SQL database can be interrogated for unusual payment patterns.

VIENNA, February 3, 2009 – UC4 Software, a leading global provider of workload automation, job scheduling and IT process optimization solutions, today announced the certification of UC4 Workload Automation Suite for use with the Avaloq Banking System (ABS) version 2.6. The companies have also signed a partnership agreement that will enhance Avaloq to refer customers requiring a complementary scheduling and automation solution to UC4 Software.

“The certification of the UC4 adapter enables organisations to utilise a complementary technology that has been successfully tested and validated against our Model Bank environment,” said Adrian Bult, COO, Avaloq Evolution AG. “Joint customers will be able to increase the return on their existing technology investments leveraging a solution that interfaces directly with the Avaloq Banking System.”

Avaloq solutions are changing the IT landscapes within private and retail banks in Switzerland, Germany, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Singapore, Hong Kong and other markets. With UC4 Workload Automation Suite enterprises remove manual intervention, reduce latency and mitigate risk from their end-to-end business processes. The UC4 Business Integration for Avaloq communicates directly with ABS through application interfaces, allowing customers to extend the automated scheduling of their core banking systems and integrate with external applications.

UC4 Workload Automation Suite can manage back-end processing for ABS and all other surrounding systems that many finance institutes rely on. Avaloq users receive regular software updates which support banks in remaining compliant with industry regulations. When utilizing additional tools it is important that Avaloq users work with solutions that are compatible and certified for use with Avaloq. This reduces maintenance and support issues and allows joint customers to benefit from the enterprise wide visibility and control provided by UC4.

“It gives UC4 great pleasure to extend its relationship with Avaloq,” said Cesare Capobianco, chief executive officer, UC4 Software. “We have benefited from an excellent working partnership working towards receiving this certification. Huntron Scanners

    Huntron Scanners

    Highlights:

    • The Scanner II and Scanner 31S accessories add scanning capability to the Tracker Model 30
    • All Scanners have a minimum 64 pin capability
    • The Scanner II can scan up to 128 pins when the A and B channels are combined
    • The Scanner 31S use standard IDC style connectors
    • The Scanner II uses the common SCSI-2 (68 pin) style connectors
    • Up to 8 Scanner IIs can be “daisy-chained” to increase the available number of test pins
